Nesboo Guide - Welcome Guest
In the UK, the two biggest names in the world of mobile phones are Nokia and Sony Ericsson. In terms of market share, between them they hold first and second place. But, how do they stack up against each other when it comes to music phones?
Nokia - Xpress yourself!
Both Nokia and Sony Ericsson have their fingers firmly in the music phone pie, with specific product lines designed to be great mobile phones AND great music players. Their purpose in life is to provide you with an awesome musical experience, and at the same time, give you awesome phones. In the Nokia camp, we have the Xpress Music range, the big boy amongst which is the Nokia 5610 Xpress. And what a nice mobile phone it is, too, with tons of cool stuff all packed into a sleek, sliding body. So, you get a 3 megapixel camera, fast internet access, and all the standard loveliness (and ease of use) you'd expect from a Nokia.
In terms of the music player, as well, this sexy little Nokia really has a good'n! Supporting a huge range of formats, from MP3 to AAC, from MP4 to WMA, it offers a wealth of playback options, and it's fair to say it is really going to excite your ears. Combine that with dedicated playback controls, and it makes the Nokia 5610 Xpress a mobile phone that really lays down the gauntlet for the Sony Ericsson challenger. The question is, though, can Sony Ericsson's music phones beat it?
Sony Ericsson - World of Walkman
To be fair, let's pit the Nokia against its closest rival, since it's hardly fair to pitch it against the W960i, which would kill and leave it in the dust. No, for this comparison, we need something in a similar price range, with similar features, to get a better comparison...
Well, that'll be the Sony Ericsson W910i, then! Sony Ericsson have a long-standing tradition of awesome music phones. Ever since they first released the W800i, the first Walkman mobile phone, their product range has included a plethora of music-centric devices, all of them with that big 'W' on the front. Certainly, Sony Ericsson wins on brand pedigree, since the Walkman name is one of those names that changed the world of music, starting with the original tape-based Walkman in the 80's. So, to see it on a mobile phone gives you a fairly clear idea that this is a serious piece of musical kit you're dealing with.
And, well, it is. Specs-wise, it's very similar to the Nokia, with 3MP camera, super-fast internet access, and a sleek, sliding body. But in terms of music, the Sony Ericsson W910i wins hands down, with its double-header of shake controls (just jiggle the phone to change tracks) and 'SensMe', a system that, once you tell it what your mood is, will work out exactly what songs will fit that mood, without you needing to do anything. That's one of the most clever features ever seen in mobile phones, and it's for that reason that the Sony Ericsson are the winners!
