Steps to follow the first time you charge your iPaq

As with any piece of electronics equipment it is important to become familiar with the various aspects of your HP iPaq before you begin to use it. You should read the user guides that comes with your new PDA; this is generally advisable anyway to ensure that you get the most out of all your new iPaqs features.

When you first get your HP iPaq one of the first things you’ll need to do is to charge the battery. Best practice for charging your iPaq battery for the first time is detailed below.

1: Make sure that you read the user manual thoroughly and familiarise yourself with the various aspects and features of your HP iPaq

2: Locate the battery. Insert the battery into your new PDA by placing the tabs at the bottom of the battery into the corresponding slots on the back of your iPAQ.

3: Push the battery upwards against the main body of the iPaq. You will hear a click that indicates that the battery is inserted correctly.

4: Plug the AC adapter in to the charger then connect the charging adapter into the power in port of your HP iPaq; this can be found at the bottom of the device.

5: Plug the AC adapter into an electrical socket.

6: Leave the device charging for approximately 4 hours to ensure that your battery is fully charged. The power indicator on your iPaq will turn an orange colour when the battery is fully charged.

7: Disconnect the device from the power adapter and continue with your setup as described in the user manual.

Some more things to consider-:

Another way to charge your iPaq battery for the first time is to use a Desktop Cradle. Just place the device in the cradle taking care when sliding it onto the cradle. Be sure to check that all the pins are aligned before pushing down.
It is likely that the battery that was supplied with your iPaq was partially charged when you took it out of the box, however it is recommended that you fully charge the battery before you start to use the device.

You also can charge your iPaq battery for the first time by using a USB Autosync Cable; this will be supplied with your device. Plug one end of the USB Cable into your iPaq and the other end into your computer; your device will now draw charge from your computer.

You may find that your iPaq charges faster if it is left in the off position while charging.
